JGLS Announces Early Admissions for 2027-28
The Jindal Global Law School (JGLS) at OP Jindal Global University (JGU) has officially opened early admissions for the academic year 2027-28. This initiative will allocate a minimum of 50% of available seats through early admissions, with the remaining seats offered in a subsequent phase. An LNAT score between 20 to 25 out of 42 is expected to be the cutoff for admissions.
Mandatory LNAT-UK Test for Admission
Applicants must undertake the National Admission Test for Law (LNAT-UK), a crucial requirement for entry into the 5-year and 3-year LL.B. (Hons.) programs at JGLS. The LNAT, managed by the LNAT Consortium headquartered at the University of Oxford, is a globally recognized law entrance exam. JGLS stands out as the only Indian law school in the LNAT Consortium, admitting students based solely on LNAT scores.
Admission Phases for 2027
The admission process is divided into two phases. The early admission phase, where candidates can take the LNAT from September 1 to November 30, 2026, aims to fill at least 50% of seats. The late admission phase follows, from December 1, 2026, to February 28, 2027, to fill any remaining seats. Professor Anand Prakash Mishra, Senior Director of Law Admissions and Executive Dean of Institutional Outreach, emphasizes the importance of early admissions, noting that it aligns with international best practices. He advises students to commence LNAT preparation upon entering class 12 to enhance their chances of admission.
Global Academic Recognition and Faculty Excellence
JGLS’s academic reputation is well-established, ranking 35th globally and 1st in India for Law & Legal Studies according to the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026. It also holds the top position in India for law as per the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject 2026. The school boasts a diverse faculty of over 500 members, many of whom are alumni of the world’s top 50 law schools. The law school provides an interdisciplinary curriculum with over 500 compulsory courses and numerous electives and cross-listed courses.
International Opportunities and Infrastructure
JGLS offers extensive international exposure through partnerships with more than 625 institutions across 80 countries. Students have access to exchange programs, semester-abroad opportunities, dual degrees, and short-term study-abroad programs. The campus features state-of-the-art facilities, including India’s first Constitution Museum and the world’s largest moot court hall, the International Mooting Academy for Advocacy, Negotiation, Dispute Adjudication, Arbitration, and Resolution (IMAANDAR).
Details of LNAT-UK Test
The LNAT-UK is a standardized computer-based test available globally from September to July. It evaluates candidates’ critical thinking and advanced English skills through 42 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) based on complex texts. JGLS considers only the scores from Section A of the LNAT, allowing applicants to conclude their test after the MCQs.
Scholarships Based on LNAT Scores
Merit-cum-means-based scholarships, ranging from 10% to 50% of tuition fees, are available based on LNAT scores and parental income. A score of 25 or above on the LNAT, combined with an annual parental income of less than INR 50 lakhs, qualifies a student for these scholarships.
Two-Step Application Process
Prospective students must register for the LNAT-UK (starting the first week of August) and submit the JGLS online application form. Admission is contingent upon meeting the cutoff set by the JGLS Admissions Committee. Historically, an LNAT score above 25 has been favorable for admission and scholarship eligibility.
For further information, applicants can contact the JGLS Admissions Office through the official admissions portal.
