The Migration and Asylum Project (MAP) has officially announced the call for applications for its Catalyst for Change Fellowship for the 2026-2027 term. This prestigious program, titled ‘CFC Fellow,’ is situated in Aizawl, Mizoram, and offers a comprehensive 24-month on-site experience.

Fellowship Details

The fellowship provides a monthly stipend of ₹45,000, subject to applicable taxes, along with other benefits. Successful candidates will commence their fellowship on August 15, 2026.

What the Fellowship Offers

Participants in the Catalyst for Change Fellowship will gain invaluable experience in the realms of migration, women’s rights, and the protection of displaced communities. The program emphasizes a rule of law approach to foster an inclusive legal protection framework. Fellows will engage with both domestic and international experts, gaining insights into programs and directly interacting with migrant and displaced communities.

During their tenure, Fellows may work within one of MAP’s primary initiatives, which include aiding survivors of sexual and gender-based violence, empowering migrant workers legally, or providing direct support to displaced populations. This experience will enable them to apply human rights and international law principles, significantly impacting the lives of their clients. Additionally, Fellows will be involved in advocacy, litigation, policy-making, and groundbreaking research.

The fellowship also facilitates engagement with MAP’s partners, including UN agencies, civil society organizations, and state entities. It serves as a launching pad for future academic and professional pursuits, with alumni advancing to roles in the development sector, UN systems, and embarking on further studies and fellowships.

Eligibility Criteria

MAP seeks applicants with a background in law or related disciplines, possessing 0-2 years of experience. A strong commitment to human rights and justice is essential. Residents of Mizoram and fluent speakers of Mizo are particularly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

Fellows will undertake various responsibilities depending on their assigned program. These may include:

  • Providing legal aid and representation to migrants and displaced populations in India.
  • Engaging communities through training and awareness events about legal rights and access to justice.
  • Setting up community legal desks in settlements to offer individualized assistance.
  • Conducting trauma-informed interviews to assess protection needs and prepare legal documentation.
  • Participating in research, policy, and advocacy efforts related to program themes.
  • Strengthening community-based networks and coordinating grassroots interventions.
  • Maintaining office databases and handling correspondence.

Fellows will work under the guidance of a Project Coordinator and may need to travel as part of their duties.
